Drug Pricing: A Discussion of Recent Case Studies and Effects on Stock Price In recent months drug pricing has been front page news, with payers, patients, physicians and politicians voicing opinions. A tweet from presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on specialty drug price gouging wiped out nearly 5 percent from the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index in one day. How has drug pricing discourse in the media affected stock prices and investor sentiment? Our first meeting of the NIRI SF and SV Life Sciences Subgroup will begin with a 20 minute review talk of drug pricing case studies including branded, generics, and biosimilars by Susanna Chau, followed by a group discussion of how your investors and management teams view drug pricing’s effect on market caps within the context of payers, the 2016 election, the Affordable Care Act, and more.
